A stalwart of the Orlu socio-political group ORLUZURUMEE speaking anonymously revealed during a discussion that the group has no intentions to cede power to any other zone in the state. He affirmed this fact stating that it was the reason they have not publicly come out to condemn or caution any of their sons and daughters jostling for the position of governor in 2019.
The stalwart claimed that the group knew how easy it was for them to divide Owerri zone and turn them against each other. He claimed the knows the price of the Owerri man and at the right time would do what they usually do to divide Owerri against themselves and use the turncoats in Owerri who will betray their zone for money and political settlements to destabilize Owerri just like they did in 2015 using the likes of Chief Charles Amadi of OZOPOLF and others to selling the zone.
He however stated that Okigwe zone was the problem they foresee in 2019 because they are more organized than Owerri zone but their numbers can be used against then since they are the smallest zone in the state.
ORLUZURUMEE it was alleged has secretly endorsed all their sons and daughters desirous to contest in 2019 including Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha who himself is also from that political zone in the state.
He further revealed that Orlu would rather work with Okigwe than Owerri believing that Owerri will in their usual way work against themselves and maybe get deputy governor position or speaker afterwards.
Orlu zone since the inception of democracy has enjoyed more years holding on to the reins of power in the state having been in power for 16 years while Owerri zone had only been in power for a year and a few months making them the most deprived. Ironically, in 1999, an Owerri man Humphrey Anumudu was urged to imbibe fairness even after he won the PDP primaries to give Orlu zone a chance at governance since they had not been there before. One now wonders why other zones will imbibe fairness in their dealings with Orlu but the zone will shun fairness and equity in dealing with others.
The ORLUZURUMEE stalwart said it now lies on Owerri zone to unite or once again lose out in the scheme of things in the state but one cannot hold hopes up for Owerri because with people like Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and the latest entrant into the gubernatorial race Senator Samuel Anyanwu all desperate for power or scuttle it for the others and with Okigwe fighting a battle of numbers, Orlu may yet remain the EZE while the other two zones remain the OHU.
