Senator Chris Anyanwu has advised Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State to respect the sanctity of governance instead of making the state a laughing stock before other Nigerians.
In a press statement titled: “Rochas is a drowning man”, which she issued on Tuesday through her Special Assistant, Mr. Emmanuel Onuoha, Senator Anyanwu described the governor as a self-styled emperor, who is insensitive and unable to comprehend issues written in black and white.”
Anyanwu reacted to an earlier press statement in response her interview published by a national daily on May 18, 2018. She accused Governor Okorocha of frittering away the massive goodwill that brought him to power in 2011, to the extent that now, despite being the chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor’s Forum, he cannot even oversee the successful conduct of party’s congresses in his state.
Senator Anyanwu alleged that due to the governor’s imperialistic and nepotic tendencies, he had sown seeds of confusion and disenchantment even within his party, to the extent that the real stakeholders had decided to abandon him to drown alone in his wild dream of forcefully installing his son-in-law, as his successor at Douglas House, Owerri.
According to her, “the ground on which Governor Okorocha stands is helplessly caving in and he is at a loss on how to stay alive politically. Hence, since being out smarted in the recent APC congresses, he has been running from pillar to post like a crying baby in a bid to cling to a life-line which he hopes will save him from the impending judgment day which he will surely face as soon as he leaves Government House and is stripped of the garb of immunity in May next year.” Anyanwu expressed dismay that for a man like Okorocha to cast aspersions on her, when she “gave Owerri zone and indeed Imo State, documented and verifiable unparalleled representation at the Senate between 2007 and 2015, shows his lacking respect for facts. If he has bothered to read the interview closely, he should have realised that I deliberately avoided assessing his governance, which indeed has inflicted much pains and tears on the good people of Imo State these past seven years.”
She further lambasted Okorocha for being ignorant of HOT FM informing that Senator Anyanwu established the HOT FM group of Radio Stations in 2005 before venturing into politics in 2007 and HOT FM, Owerri particularly was her way of giving back to the people of Imo State for believing in her.
